“From the moment you walk into the Yoga Studio, Michele greets you with a warm smile and an open heart. She is the kind of Yoga Teacher who immediately draws you in. Michele has spent many years studying Yoga, and this shows in her understanding of anatomy, and the ease with which she teaches.” – Kate Cordell, Student
Michele Benton began practicing yoga in 2007, focusing mainly on the Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow styles. In the summer of 2010, she met the late Sarasvati Devi through her friend and teacher Christine Northcote. Having spent a year considering the next step on her path, specifically whether to become a yoga teacher herself, Michele took this fateful meeting as a sign. She graduated from the Prana Vinyasa Radiant Transitions program in October 2011 at the Full Circle Yoga Studio in Winter Park, Florida.
In 2016 Michele earned further certification to teach Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga. She currently teaches SUP skills, Sup Yoga, and SUP private group classes in New Smyrna Beach and Crystal River, Florida. Michele is also working towards a 615 hour teacher training certification with Mylinda Morales at Yoga University of Florida in Altamonte Springs, where she teaches Yin Yoga and Warm Yoga. Her current studies have a strong emphasis on anatomy and alignment, which along with her past training enables Michele to provide a safe and therapeutic practice no matter the student’s level or experience.
Michele’s specialties include nutrition and yoga on the go, as well as yoga for athletes including runners, cyclers, and weight lifters. She uses her background in food service sales to help people make better eating choice when traveling or juggling busy schedules.
“I love sharing the joy of and work of yoga with others and helping them on their journey towards living a healthier and happier life.” – Michele Benton
One of the goals of Om Sunshine Yoga is to enhance creativity, connection, and experience. By taking her students out of the traditional yoga studio setting and moving their practice into nature, Michele not only fosters cultural enrichment but a deepening of the yoga practice itself. Research has found that being in nature further cultivates internal focus, vitality, and wakeful relaxation, making it the ideal setting for yoga practice.
Michele teaches yoga both indoors and out, including classes, workshops and retreats in New Smyrna Beach and Altamonte Springs, Florida. See her current teaching schedule and upcoming events on her Classes and Workshops page. Michele also offers private yoga lessons. Visit her Shop Page to make a purchase for yourself or as a gift.
